Government insist that it will implement the Pre-Export Verification of Conformity to Standards (PVOC) program to save consumers from consuming sub standard goods.

Sam Watasa, the Executive Director of the Uganda Consumer Association  says any deal government strikes with the traders that is less than conformity to standards is a raw deal for the Ugandan consumer.

Government insists that PVOC is aimed at protecting the public from substandard goods that affect people’s health and environment, increases confidence of consumers at the same time protecting local manufactures from substandard goods on the market.
