Former  president of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Dr Kizza Besigye, on Thursday  denied participating in violent  protests and unrest in the country after the 2011 general elections.

Besigye and other eight opposition leaders appeared before Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate Olive Kazaarwe and denied participating in violent protests.

The opposition leaders included ; Mr Mathias Mpuuga (MP Masaka Municipality), Ms Ingrid Turinawe (chairperson FDC Women League), Mr Asuman Basaalirwa (Jeema Party President), Mr Muwanga Kivumbi (Butambala County MP), Mr Francis Mwijukye (FDC Youth Mobiliser), Mr Munyagwa Mubaraka (Kawempe Division Mayor) and Mr Chaapa Karuhanga (a former presidential candidate).

The case was  adjourned  to September 17.
