The parliamentary appointments committee is set to meet president Museveni tomorrow the 6th of July ,to discuss the pending approval of two ministerial appointees namely, the minister of internal Affairs, Gen Aronda Nyakayirima and the Junior Minister of Health, Erioda Tumwesigye.
The source sitting on this committee told Uganda picks that the meeting is scheduled tomorrow at State House , Entebbe at 12pm.
The clerk to parliament ,Mrs Jane Kibirige called all members sitting on the appointments committee to get ready for tomorrow’s meeting with the president.
Last week when the committee met the president, the MPs failed to agree with him Gen Nyakayirima’s resignation from the army before his approval as minister of internal Affairs.
The source added that, during last week’s tough meeting , the president told the committee members that, they should forget the issue of Nakayirima resigning from the Army.
“I do not agree with you on the issue of Gen Nyakayirima resigning his role in the Army before being approved on another ministerial post. The country needs the Army. Even parliament cannot stand without the Army.
“Let me first go in Tanzania because I have a special program there. We shall discuss these issues further when I come back ” The president told appointments committee members led by speaker Kadaga last week.
