A secondary school in Nyendo Masaka district has been closed over poor administration and lack of facilities.

Victoria Millennium Centre of Muteesa II High School located at Villa Road, Nyendo/Ssenyange Division, Masaka Municipality, in Masaka district has been closed for lack of facilities.

The closure followed a council resolution by the Social Service Committee headed by Amis Kintu after realizing that the school lacked an operating license and qualified teachers among other facilities which puts in doubt the quality of education offered to students.

Masaka Municipal Council Inspector of Schools Beatrice Ssekiwunga confirmed the closure of Mutesa II High School saying  it was in compliance with the council resolution that called for its closure because findings indicated since term two begun this year, no student has attended a single class.

She says that the school has been unable to meet the set requirements by the Ministry of Education for a school to operate.

She says that the school actually had an operational license that indicates the school is based in Kampala yet it was operating in Kampala.

Masaka Municipality Educational Principal Officer, Moses Mathew Ochom, says that Mutesa II High School did not even have security measures to protect students from intruders.
