A prison warder may soon rub shoulders with the inmates that he has been keeping after he was caught with stolen borehole pipes.  Mr. Albert Tukei, a prison’s warder attached to Serere prison was allegedly caught in possession of stolen borehole accessories that included borehole pipes, bolts and valves.

According to the OC police for Serere, Mr. Simon Peter Agama, the suspect was arrested after a tip off by residents that the suspect was keeping the accessories in her house.

“Albert Tukei, number 7559, has been arrested and he is currently in detention at Serere central police station. We will forward him to court as soon as investigations are over,” Mr. Agama said.

The stolen pipes and accessories were part of a stock of borehole repair and maintenance accessories meant for borehole works in the district. A crime of theft, once convicted attracts a minimum sentence of not more than seven years in prison.
