The body of ‘The Sopranos’ actor, James Gandolfini is back on American soil ahead of his burial which is scheduled to take place on Thursday this week.
The funeral service will begin at 10:00am at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in Manhattan according to the spokesperson for the family.
Gandolfini’s body arrived on American soil on Sunday from Rome where he died last week on Wednesday after suffering a heart attack. His body was taken to his native home town in New Jersey and then transported to a funeral home ahead of his memorial. Former President Bill and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were instrumental in expediting the process of repatriating Gandolfini’s remains, a process which could have taken up to 10 days.
Gandolfini family spokesman and close friend Michael Kobold thanked the Clintons and everyone else who had a hand in helping transporting the body back home in a statement on Sunday before leaving Rome. “We are sure you can understand why we, the family, are so grateful to everyone who has been involved in this process,” he said.
Gandolfini died aged 51.
