The mother of the Kabaka of Buganda, Namasole Rebecca Musoke Zirimbuga who died last week is going to be prayed for today during a funeral service at St. Paul Cathedral Namirembe today.
Ms. Namasole passed away last week and Buganda is currently mourning her death which occurred on Friday at Nairobi Hospital where she had been taken for treatment for blood clot she had suffered. All Buganda Kingdom flags in offices and counties are today flying at half mast and will do the same tomorrow fly.
The funeral service would be conducted at St Paul Cathedral Namirembe at 3pm today. According to the kingdom Information minister, Mr. Denis Walusimbi Ssengendo, her body was flown back from Nairobi on Saturday. “The kingdom has lost a great asset and we are doing everything possible to give her a befitting sendoff,” he said. He went on to add saying that the kingdom cabinet had resolved that the Lukiiko (parliament), which is sitting today, passes a resolution in appreciation of her work.
The deceased will be laid to rest on Tuesday at her ancestral home in Makonzi, Ssingo. “But as per our norms, another Namasole will be installed before the burial,” he said.
