The Inter-parliamentary relations seminar (Nanyuki V11) held last week at Imperial resort hotel in Entebbe resolved that, the EAC council should immediately put in place modalities for allowing free movement of persons,labour,services,right of establishment and residence.

The seminar similarly resolved that all partner states should repeal existing laws that restrict free movement of persons, labour, services and right of establishment and residence for citizens of East Africa.

The seminar also urged that all, the national Assemblies implore their respective governments to immediately appoint ministers solely responsible for the East African community.

They also resolved that all national Assemblies do immediately summon ministers responsible for ensuring the rectification of protocol to explain the delays in rectification.

They suggested that linkages between EAC organs and EALA and national Assemblies be strengthened through enactment of the necessary legislation that will provide for clear reporting mechanism, regular fora for dialogue.

The seminar was officiated by the president of Uganda YoweriK Museveni.
