Former Forum for Democratic president Kizza Besigye has beaten the heavy police deployment at his home and entered the city.
Police is still puzzled over how the opposition stronghold escaped from his home in Kasangati to Kampala city .Police is currently trying to prevent him from moving further into the town.
Police is also struggling to arrest his supporters who are clung to his vehicle near parliament.
Besigye is intending to join 4GC activists who are after joining city traders in their effort to protest the Pre-import Verification of Conformity to Standards programme (PVoC) fees.
4GC’s head Mathias Mpuuga says the campaign is aimed countering the NRM “dictatorship” and showing solidarity with Kampala traders who are on strike.
The traders on Tuesday closed their shops in protest against a new government programme requiring pre-shipment inspection of imported goods in the countries of origin before they enter into the Ugandan market. The traders argue that the fees will get them out of business .
