David Beckham has just announced that he is retiring from football.
The England football legend, 38, has been in active football for over ten years.
The most iconic sportsman of his generation, Beckham has collected 115 caps, and celebrated as a champion in four different countries becoming the only British footballer in history to do so.
Recently offered an extended one-year deal at Paris Saint-German, Beckham has played his last game.
“I’m thankful to PSG for giving me the opportunity to continue but I feel now is the right time to finish my career, playing at the highest level,” Beckham said announcing his retirement today.
Beckham has played for some of the best clubs in the world including Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Los Angeles Galaxy.
Valued at $46 million as of June 2012, Beckham is going to continue his ambassadorial duties with several organizations like Sky Sports, adidas, Unicef and promoting football in China.
He recently relocated from Los Angeles in January and is now expected be a permanent resident London with his wife Victoria and children, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper.
Beckham is the richest athlete ever in British sport with a fortune of an estimated £165million.
