Lwengo district woman MP Getrude Nakabira says that ever since the international women’s Day was launched in Uganda, women have gained independency.
She says that Women are now feeling that they are part of the society and there presence is now reorganized.
She added that the women’s Day has encouraged grass root women to work for their well being and development. “The women day has done some impact to women because it helped them to come out and work hard to why women contributes to the development of this nation” She said
She further urged government to continue to lift women and put them on board for self sustainability and other developmental areas.
She however advised women to stop being dependants to men.
Today Uganda joined the rest of the world to celebrate the international women’s Day and the national celebrations held in Nakasongola district with the THEME Gender Agenda: connecting grassroots women to development.
So many women activists have been awarded by the government women for their Role towards the fight for women rights.
