US Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg at 80 can do up to 20 push-ups, she revealed.
Justice Bader has a twice-weekly workout session with personal trainer, Bryant Johnson which has helped her with her numbers.”Now I’m up to 20…” she said.
“Exercise is the great equalizer. It doesn’t matter what size, shape or color you are,” Johnson said. “A push-up is a push-up, no matter how you look at it.” Johnson also trains Justice Elena Kagan.
Ginsburg started exercising regularly after a serious health scare. In 1999, she was treated for colon cancer, the radiation and surgery took a toll on her body leaving her weak and frail. Her husband Martin; who passed away in 2010, encouraged her to hire a personal trainer. “When I started, I looked like a survivor of Auschwitz,” she said.
She says the work out helped her through a second battle with cancer, pancreatic cancer. “I never thought I’d be able to do any of this,” she said. “I attribute my well-being to our meetings twice a week. It’s essential.”
