The Amuru District Local Government has announced plans to crack down on timber smuggling from their district.

This was announced by Christopher Odongkara, the Speaker for Amuru district Local Government.

The speaker said that there were a number of timber being smuggled from Amuru district without paying revenue to the district.

HeĀ  added that most of the timbers are smuggled at night between 3:00AM and 4:00AM from Lakang, Pabbo, and Apaar among other places in Amuru district.

He also explained that they have plans to recruit more enforcement officials so that the district realizes more revenue.

Odongkara also called on the local residents to work hand in hand with the local leaders so that the district arrests those smuggling timber from the district.
