The Police in Gulu are investigating circumstances under which a Senior two  student of St.Mary’s College Lacor was burnt to death beyond recognition beyond recognition last Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Patricia Lucy Abejja 15 years old and a resident of in Obiya West sub ward in Gulu town.

Abejja had returned from school that day to get treatment for Malaria.

James Asubu the Officer in charge of crimes at Gulu central police station told the press today  that the mother of the deceased ,Lucy Atto, by the time was cooking in another hut.

The incident occurred at 7:30 pm on Sunday as she prepared super for the family in the kitchen and did not realize early enough that the bedroom of the hut in which her daughter was lying was on fire.

Asubu said that according to their investigations, Atto was alerted by her two young daughters but by the time she went towards the hut, it had already collapsed as fire engulfed it.

Asubu also explained that they have already done a postmortem on the  child.

He said that they still need enough details about the fire out break and urged the general community of Obiya west sub ward to avail them.
