Just after calling it quits with her boyfriend of seven months, Katy Perry had to look at her ex-husband of 14 months joking about their relationship saying it was shaky from the get go.
Appearing on the XFM Teenage Cancer Trust show Tuesday 19th, Russell Brand talked about his brief marriage to the 28-year-old singer. “That marriage was shaky from the get-go, before I’d even got off the elephant,” Brand said.
John Mayer and Katy Perry are said to have broken up for a second time after dating for seven months.
The 37-year-old comedian went on to talk about their wedding which took place in India in 2010. It had a traditional Indian wedding procession and Brand arrived at the ceremony on an elephant. “It was a drag, man,” Brand continued. “Let me tell you a thing about marriage. Marriage is a bond that can last up to 14 months. This is a sacred 14-month arrangement. Begins on an elephant. Ends in a newspaper.”
This came just after the media got to know that Perry and her 35-year-old boyfriend, John Mayer had broken up for a second time. “She’s sad,” a source said of the break up. “She’s been hiding out and leaning on close friends.”
According to People magazine, Perry and Mayer’s split was evident especially since there were signs of trouble for weeks since the couple returned from a Montana trip together. Despite the break up being announced on 20th March, the couple had last been seen together on March 6th as they were hiking in Los Angeles.
Russell Brand, Katy Perry’s ex husband said their marriage was shaky from the get go.
“She gets really withdrawn when there’s a change in a relationship,” says a Perry pal, who points out that during a recent conversation with the singer, “she didn’t mention [Mayer] at all.”
Despite the break up, a Us Weekly source says they may get back together for a third time: “It’s not over until it’s over. You have to see how things play out. She’s leaving the window open. They have both been so focused on work.”
Perry and Mayer first broke up in August.
