The Celebration to mark the Women’s day for Gulu district in Koro Lapainat ended prematurely after a strong wind ushered in a heavy rain, which destroyed the tents.

This happened just before the guest of Honor for the Women’s day- Jacobs Oulanya -the Omoro Member of Parliament had addressed the women.

It all began as little rain which many though would stop shortly but within minutes  people were soaked in rain  were fleeing to neighboring homes for shelter .

Some of the women blamed it on Oulanya who arrived at the function at 1:00PM, yet he was expected at 10:00AM in the morning.

Others argued that it was not right for him to be the guest of honor since it was a women’s day which was meant for women all over the world.

And a few women told Radio Rupiny that they did not care even though their day was spoilt prematurely.They expressed their happiness arguing that  day brought rain for them after a long time.

The National celebrations were held in Nakasongola district with President Yoweri Museveni presiding over the occasion.
