Buyaga County MP Barnabas Tinkasimire has asked President Yoweri Museveni to come out immediately and apologize to all Ugandans for lying to them during the General elections of 2011.
Tinkasiimiire while addressing Journalists at Parliament on Monday said that the president made many promises to Ugandans including granting some district statuses ,the move which he now turns down.
The angry legislator added that it’s unfair that the president has halted the creation of more 25 districts including Kakumiro and Kagadi even when he had promised the public to reward them with the said districts.
President Museveni, according to some MPs seating on the Parliamentary Committee on Local Government in a meeting held at state House Entebbe last week directed the Minister for Local Government Adolf Mwesige, to withdraw the earlier motion he tabled in Parliament seeking the approval of 25 new districts.
Currently there are 112 districts, if Parliament had approved the Government proposal; it would bring the number of districts to 137.
Meanwhile Padyere county MP in Nebbi district Joshua Anywarach has applauded president Museveni’s directive of halting the creation of more districts saying that the creating of more new districts is like stopping huge wage Bill which goes into development in terms of public service.
Anywarach said that the holistic infrastructural development wouldn’t have money for roads, bridges which defeats service delivery the best way to reduce the burden is to reduce the districts.
