Police has rescued a young girl of thirteen years who was married off to a 50-year-old man in Mubende district.
The girl in question was kidnapped four years ago in May 2009 from her grandmother’s home in Kawumulwa village, Kiyuni sub-county. She was then taken and married the 50-year-old man who was identified as Isma Mukiibi. The deputy CID chief, Mubende police station Martin Okiria said that Mr. Mukiibi has already been arrested.
Mukiibi is also suspected of killing the grandmother of the girl, Tereza Nansasi before he kidnapped the girl. “In May 2009, Nansasi’s body was discovered dead. She had been strangled in bed. That was the very night when the girl went missing, and since then, the relatives have been looking for her,” he said.
Mukiibi was arrested last week in Bulo, Gomba district for defilement. At this time, it was discovered that he had been living with the girl for the past three years. The girl asserted that Mr. Mukiibi had held her and other three girls hostage at his home. All the girls were of her age bracket and forced them into intimate relations.
Bulo police transferred the case to Mubende after finding out that Mr. Mukiibi had committed murder. “We are currently having two cases of murder and Kidnap. The charge of defilement is with Kanoni police station in Gomba and the file is already sanctioned,” Okiria explained.
