The National Forestry Authority and the parliamentary forum on millennium development goals have started a campaign of planting trees across the country.

The campaign kick started with signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties held today at Hotel African in Kampala.

The cooperation will last for the entire tenure of the 9th parliament. NFA  will provide  tree seedlingS while parliament will lobby and mobilize for the sufficient budget allocation to the forestry sector.

The authority will also identify critical areas that require urgent tree planting; provide technical advice while parliament will mobilize the population to participate in tree planting and environment conservation.

Rubaga south Mp Ken Lukyamuzi who also doubles as the shadow minister of environment urged government to conserve natural forests like Mabira which is the home for wild life and medicinal plants.
