Members of parliament who belongs to the catholic church have welcomed the election of new Pope Francis I.
MPs who include Godfery Lubega from Kasanda North, Lulume Bayiga of Buikwe South ,Betty Ochan from Gulu, Joseph Sewungu of Kalungu west among others say that Pope Francis’ election will strengthen the catholic church especially with the issue of abortion and other vices which have hit the church and conservative values propounded.
“People have been excited over the transparent way the election of the pope was conducted. Am also very happy about him. We pray that GOD gives him good health, wisdom and courage to lead the Catholics and the entire world” Said Gulu district woman MP Betty Ochan
“First of all there has been a wrong perception across the world that pope Benedict resigned. It’s not true because popes don’t resign, they just retire. We have trust in the new boss of the catholic church, pope Francis 1 and hope he will solve the problems that have hit catholic church like divorce among others. Long live pope Benedict,long live Pope Francis” Said Karungu west MP Joseph Sewungu
After two Days of voting, 115 cardinals elected Jorge Mario Bergoglio 76 years of Argentine to lead Catholics.
