Bufunbiro North MP Kamara Nizeyimana has asked ministry of agriculture to explain the criteria they used to choose Iganga and Namutumba for growing of rice.

Officials from the Ministry of Agriculture  were on Wednesday before the national economy committee of parliament seeking  approval of a loan amounting to 34 million dollars to improve on production of rice in an effort to provide food security in the country.

Nizeyimana challenged the ministry to at least support the existing farmers in all districts rather than spending huge sums of money on few districts a move that he said will not help the country secure enough food.

He said that if government supports the existing farmers it will save the save government of costs of buying land for production.
