The minister of Karamoja Affairs Janet Museveni has denied having any knowledge about the 3.5billion shillings imprest for ministers who serve under the office of the prime minister.

Minister Janet told MPs seating on parliamentary committee on public accounts that she has never heard about 3.5billion shillings each minister earns annually as imprest in  the OPM office.

Maruzi county MP ,Maxwell Okora the lead council to the committee asked Mrs Museveni to explain about the 3.5billion shilling she earns annually for imprest.

“Hon minister you should tell the committee whether you have ever received this money and for what purpose yet so many Ugandans battle with poverty.”

Mrs Museveni replied ;

“Hon chairman I have already said that I don’t handle money matters in my office. I know nothing about the money because I have never touched that money. We don’t have that money in our budget. My office doesn’t know anything about the shs3.5 billion for imprest. Maybe you should ask the Permanent secretary of the ministry because he is the one responsible over money in OPM office” She added

Yesterday Buyaga county west MP Barnabas Tinkasime informed MPs that each minister under the office  of the prime minister earns 3.5billion shillings for imprest which includes drinks, entertainment and MDD among others.

The MPs said that it’s very unfair for 13 ministers who work under the vote of the prime minister including the first lady to share over 455 billion shillings annually yet people die on daily basis because they are no drugs in hospitals.
