Makerere University’s supreme governing body has extended the deadline for tuition payment by two weeks .The students who were supposed to have paid at least 60% of their tuition by 8th March 2013,now have until March 22nd to pay .
Makerere University vice-chancellor, Prof. John Ssentamu Ddumba told journalists on Tuesday in a briefing that the university council has responded to the students’ call for an extension of the deadline by adding them at least more two weeks.
Dumba stressed that first-year students who will not have completed their payment of tuition and other fees by the second week will be deregistered .
The tuition fees policy requires privately sponsored students to either pay full tuition fees and register for papers in a semester or clear at least 60% of their tuition fees and register for 60% of their total credit units for that semester.
