Lightening struck dead a teacher in Masaka district on Thursday .Joseph Mukasa a Primary Five teacher  was trying to cross to another class which when he was hit by lightening.

He was struck once and was found lying dead on the ground.Students  and parents in the school’s neighborhood ran to his lifeless body on the ground wailing uncontrollably.

They decried the limited staff at the school which forces a few teachers to move from one class to another ,teaching different subjects.The victim had reportedly finished teaching in one class and was crossing to another school by the time the tragedy hit.

Other eight children at the same school were also struck but were not seriously hurt .By press time ,some were still being admitted receiving treatment .

Noah Sserunjongi the  Southern Regional Police Spokesman, said the Police ambulance quickly evacuated the injured.

Other village leaders called upon the government to procure lightening conductors for schools immediately since lightening has become a major problem in the country.

In 2011,lightning hit Runyanya primary school in Kiryandongo district and killed 18 children .
