The State minister of Lands, Aida Nantaba is being sued by Zion Construction Uganda Limited for allegedly trespassing on its land in Bulwanyi village, Wakiso district.
Ms. Nantaba is being accused of trespassing on the land between last year and this year. The case was filed in the High Court in Kampala on March 4th through Ambrose Tebyasa and Company Advocates. Ms. Nantaba is being sued together with 10 others.
Zion Limited alleges that Nantaba colluded with the 10 and forcefully took possession of the land and is demanding damages plus costs of the suit. “On various occasions and at different times between 2012 and 2013, the first defendant (Nantaba) without any colour of right, illegally and unlawfully entered upon the plaintiff’s said pieces of land with threats to evict the plaintiff and occupy it forcefully, and put it in possession of persons from whom plaintiff had purchased the land,” Zion states.
The 10 are Amina Nanono, Phillip Lubega, Martin Lubega, Edward Sepiriya Lubega, Yusuf Kayaba, Sizi Semaganda, and Veronica Nantala. Others are Henry Mugenyi, Tekirya Kiyaga, and Daniel Lubwama. Zion states that Nantaba’s co-defendants claimed ownership of the land although they paid to acquire it in the first place.
Zion has attached certificate of transfers and land titles as part of the court documents, showing that the various lands were transferred to it from the 10.
