The Kilak Member of parliament Gilbert Olanya has encouraged the Pukure clans in Amuru district to avoid taking the  law in their hands and asked  them to  seek solutions from local leaders.

Olanya’s made the call to the clans while distributing blankets and bars of soap to the residents of Bana in Lakang village.

Olanya argued that if the Pukure clan continues to torch their huts and fighting one another, it will bring back the ugly memories of the LRA atrocities.

While meeting over 500 residents of Pukure clan,Olanya  called on residents to respect local leaders whom he said are the ones to settle disputes that may arise.

Over 117 huts were allegedly burnt by angry youths in Bana village last month when a disagreement developed over a piece of land within the Pukure clan.

A number of crops in the garden such as cassava and peas were also said to have been destroyed during the brawl.

The incident  left many women and children homeless .Many others were left without food because it was burnt in their huts during the incident.
