A couple in Kiboga district ,Bukomansimbi village is  in police custody for conniving to strangle a new born child.

Ibrahim Serwada 36, is said to have influenced his wife  identified as Nambooze  to strangle the  child she had got from another man.

Together they strangled the baby and threw it in the pit latrine though it did not die immediately.

Students heading to school heard a baby crying from the pit and they alerted other neighbors who tipped police .Unfortunately, the baby had already died.

Bukomamsibi residents told the  police  on Wednesday  that they had seen Nambooze with the pregnancy a few days back but they were surprised when she appeared with no pregnancy nor a child.

They became suspicious and led her to a health centre for a medical checkup.

They discovered that she had given birth and got rid of the child.

The residents together with police were led to a pit where she threw the kid.

The couple will be charged with murdering the child.
