Kampala police has headed to Gulu district in a bid to try to stop the insurgent fighting which erupted in the area.

A woman, identified as Agnes Akello was allegedly killed and according to residents, Agnes was killed by her husband, Nelson. Due to the anger, fighting erupted and 54 houses were burnt to the ground, together with the property belonging to the owners of the burnt houses.

According to the police chief in Gulu district, Dennis Odoch, the people cut livestock to death including 6 goats and a cow, among others.

It is not clear why they attribute the death of Agnes to her husband of if the couple had any problem together during the time of her death.

The two sides claim innocence in the case. The cause of death of Agnes is yet to be established.
