Gulu High School has been closed  over a strike.The protest broke out on Monday when the students accused the school administration of not providing them porridge .

The non teaching staff responsible for preparing the porridge were on a sit down strike at the time the  strike broke out .

Even when the school administration called for calm promising to recruit cooks as soon as possible ,the students were rowdy and kicked down the school fence on top of breaking windows.

David Ocan Kitara ,the head teacher of the school told the press today that the students are going home for some time and they will be called back shortly when the situation normalizes with new cooking staff in place.

The most affected students were South Sudanese students who travel a long distance to the school.
