Government has expressed disappointment over the poor response of parents to the immunization programs provided by government that is intended to avoid the preventative diseases among children.
The state minister for Health ,Sarah Opendi says that whereas government has always provided vaccines for immunization of children against the 8 killer diseases parents, have not taken advantage of these programs.
Opendi says, blindness and other diseases among children could be prevented but some parents are so reluctant to immunization programs to the extent that only 52% of children are immunized.
She however called upon parents to embrace the forthcoming immunization programs due this year that will see more vaccines availed for two other killer diseases including pneumonia.
She also challenged parents not to wait for a law penalizing them for failure to immunize children but rather take it as a crucial responsibility they must fulfill.
