Forum for Democratic Change (FDC)’s candidate at Makerere University, Anna Adeke Ebaju has won the university’s guild presidency.

Ebaju won with 6,609 votes (60.87%) out of the total 10,949 votes. Her closest opponent, Henry Boniface Okot of National Resistance movement (NRM) got 2,718 votes (25.03%).

guild president 2013Other candidates managed to scoop as votes as follows, Martin Ssegawa of Democratic Party came third with 1,313 votes (12.01%) followed by Musa Byamaka, an independent candidate who got 104 votes (0.97%). Conservative Party’s (CP) Ronald Wandera was fourth with 59 votes (0.54%). Martin Twinamasiko got 24 votes (0.22%), Kokas Okello obtained 15 votes (0.14%) and Isaac Ssekkonge trailed with 13 votes (0.12%). The three were independent candidates.

Makerere university Electoral Commission (EC) boss, Allan Akankwatsa declared 988 votes invalid.

Adeke is the fourth female guild president in Makerere’s 90-year history.
