Forum for Democratic Change is going to honor the late Minister for East African Affairs, Eriya Kategaya by attending his burial which is going to take place today in Itojo, Ntugamo district.
According to the party’s Vice President, Salaam Musumbaa party delegation was selected to attend the late Kategaya’s burial in his home town today. Among them are Dr. Kizza Besigye, FDC leader, Mugisha Muntu, Amanya Mushega, Musumba herself, among others. Musumba revealed that Mr. Muntu was already in Itojo ahead of the party delegation.
Kategaya was one of FDC’s founders in December 2004. Kategaya was against the removing of presidential term limits that was why he joined Besigye to form the biggest opposition party in the country. However, he was not at the party front and did not participate the party’s affairs publicly.
After President Museveni won the 2006 elections, Kategaya went into reconciliation talks with NRM and ultimately went back to NRM. Kategaya was considered Mr. Museveni’s number two after the war which saw Museveni reinstated as the president of Uganda.
He died on Saturday 2nd March in Nairobi at 7:30pm in Nairobi Hospital from thrombosis.
