Fairland University has been closed. The university’s license was withdrawn yesterday after the National Council for Higher Education said that it was not up to the standards set for Uganda’s Higher education.
In its notice issued on Thursday ,NCHE blames the university for conducting unaccredited programmes and making no progress towards the full establishment of the university.
NCHE education also says the university had set up illegal study centres, and has been presenting false audited accounts to the council .Other weaknesses included limited funds to run programs ,limited staff and physical infrastructure for the smooth running of the university.
Students have been warned against keeping at the university and attending any further lessons since it is no longer recognised by NCHE with effect from March 12.
Fairland University was established in 2001 and its located in Jinja district.
