The speaker of the East Africa Assembly, Margaret Zziwa has described the fallen Eriya Kategaya as a freedom fighter.
Speaking to journalists immediately Kategays’s body arrived at parliament, Hon . Zziwa said that Kategaya has been a freedom fighter on the African continent.
“Kategaya was very vital in bringing back the relationship of the EA countries. He has been always available to advise us on EAC issues. He has been factual and not an alarmists. Those who got an opportunity of working with him, we shall miss him all the time because he has been patriotic and guiding African on developmental matters” Speaker Zziwa noted
Zziwa also said that the late played a very big role in settling Migingo Island controversies.
Meanwhile one of the Uganda’s representatives in EALA parliament Nusurah Tiperu said that Kategaya has been a custodian of EAC integration adding that the entire region is sad to loose him.
“Uganda has lost a son; EAC has lost a comrade while African continent has lost a real politician. We have also lost a father who used to believe in EAC Affairs. He was a military man with a civilian nature. We shall miss him dearly” Said Nusurah Tiperu
Elsewhere Kole County MP Fred Ebiru said that the death has robbed Uganda by taking Kategaya a true son of Africa. He died at time the entire region needed him because he was the chairman council of ministers in the region.
Hundreds of people from the east African countries have today gathered at parliament to pay last respect to the fallen Eriya Kategaya.Parliament this evening had a special seating to honor the late Kategaya.
Kategaya was born on 4th July 1943 and died on 2rd March 2013, died at 70 years.
