Chinua Achebe, one of the best classical novelists of Africa died today aged 82 years old.

Mr. Achebe was admitted in hospital being treated for acute pneumonia. He died from Boston, Massachusetts.

Born November 16, 1930, Achebe was born to Isaiah Okafo Achebe and Janet Anaenechi Iloegbunam.

He is survived by his wife, Christie Okoli, four children and six grandchildren, Chochi, Chino, Chidera, C.J. (Chinua Jr.),Nnamdi and Zeal.

His death has come as a surprise to many who loved and exalted the work of the author.
