Things Fall Apart and No Longer at Ease, Professor Chinua Achebe is dead.
According to reports reaching Ugandapicks, the 82-year-old professor and writer had been in hospital for the past few days being treated for an unidentified illness.
Mr. Achebe was born on November 16, 1930 to Isaiah Okafo Achebe and Janet Anaenechi Iloegbunam who were converts to the Protestant Church Mission Society in Nigeria.
He was married to Christie Okoli whom he met while working at NBS, a local television station. They married on 10 September 1961 in the Chapel of Resurrection on the campus of the University of Ibadan. They have three children together, Chinelo, Ikechukwu, Chidi and a daughter, Nwando.
Mr. Achebe is survived by his wife and children and six grandchildren, Chochi, Chino, Chidera, C.J. (Chinua Jr.),Nnamdi and Zeal.
