As one of the ways to devote themselves during this lent period, Catholics in Bardege Division,Gulu district have carried the cross of Christ to 56 homes.

The Catholics normally carry out this activity during the lent period and conduct prayers in the homes they have visited . Since the lent period begun,the catholic believers have have reached 56 homes ,Evelyn Ayero one of the residents who is overseeing the activity in Bardege division told Uganda Picks on Thursday

Ayero added that  in all the 56 homes they have visited, they conduct a prayer and leave the Holy Cross there over night until the next day when it is carried to another Christian’s home.

Ayero also noted that most of the Christians they have visited are sick, poor, and new converts.

Lent is a Latin word which describes the 40 days of fasting by Catholics after Ash Wednesday and ends on Easter Sunday.

During this period, Catholics are forbidden from eating meat, drinking alcohol among other things .
