Members of the LukiikoBuganda Lukiiko which convened on Monday 11th March, 2013 at Bulange Mengo has vowed to protect all cultural land in Buganda.
The move is in a bid to prevent all the selfish individuals who have made several attempts towards grabbing Mujuguzo cultural land at Kabowa. Members were angered by this move which they strongly condemned because Mujaguzo is a sacred drum and a symbol of power in Buganda and therefore attempting to grab it is an attempt on the powers of the Kingdom. They all vowed to stand firmly and protect all cultural land in Buganda no matter what it entails.
Members also recognized and commended the Late Dr. James Mulwana for his great efforts towards the restoration of the Kingdom in 1993 and its development which they all recommended need more and better recognition from the Kingdom.
The Lukiiko also requested the Minister of Finance in Buganda Kingdom to liaise with the office of the Speaker to work out an Insurance medical scheme for members of the Lukiiko to reduce on the costs on individual members incurred every year.
The Lukiiko furthermore applauded Katikkiro and his cabinet’s plan of constructing and completing Bulange Plaza found at Bulange in Mengo which they said has been long overdue and commended their fellow members who made an overwhelming opening contribution of 850 bags of cement. They called upon their entire Kingdom to support this project which they believe will benefit the Kingdom’s treasury.
Two reports from the ministries of Education and Agriculture where presented to the Lukiiko floor highlighting many issues and projects run by these ministries which greatly impressed members. They agreed that these reports be forwarded to the Lukiiko committee for further deliberations.
