US president Barack Obama has headed to Israel for the first time to hold talks with leaders in an attempt by both sides to melt down the poor relations.
The major purpose or reason of Barack Obama’s visit to Israel is to build bridges and improve his image in Israel , which could give him more leverage over the new Israeli government,BBC correspondents said
Mr Obama is due to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas during his three-day visit.
On Wednesday Obama will meet Benjamin Netanyahu ,on Thursday he will meet Mahmoud Abbas and on Friday ,he will visits Bethlehem’s Church of Nativity and later depart for Jordan.
Talks between the US president and the Israeli prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, are expected to focus on Iran, Syria and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The president will also travel to Ramallah to meet Palestinian leaders.
Obama will also visit an Iron Dome mobile missile defence unit which is funded by the US.
In U.S ,Obama has been criticised for not having visited Israel in his first term as president, with some saying it shows he is not close enough to the country,
