Amuru district Local Government is looking for ways to ease transport between Lakang and Arua through River Nile.
Residents of Lakang village have been having challenges to cross to Arua via River Nile according to the Amuru district speaker, Christopher Odongkara .
In an interview with Uganda Picks on Tuesday ,Odongkara said that most of the residents use boats which according to him have never been reliable .
He says that they are engaging the Ministry of Transport and Communication to acquire a ferry to help in transporting goods and people across Arua and Amuru district.
The speaker is optimistic that if the government acquires a ferry on River Nile, the revenue capacity will be boosted.
Last year, a resident of Lakang village in Amuru district drowned while was crossing river Nile to Arua district.
Residents claimed the boat he was using to cross over had cracks.
