A number of Gulu residents are supporting Raila Odinga, one of the Kenyan’s Presidential Candidates in the 2013 race.

The residents when asked by Uganda Picks said that they support Raila Odinga simply because he comes from the Luo Empire.

Stella Ayaa, a woman in Kanyagoga village in Gulu town said that it would be good if Raila Odinga whose origin is from the Lamogi tribe wins the election so that he may remember his tribe’s men in Amuru district.

Ayaa thinks that the Lamogi tribe in Guru-guru may one day remember their outspoken leader Raila Odinga.

Joseph Okello another resident of Laliya told Uganda Picks that Odinga’s origin is from the Acholi tribe in Uganda and that if he wins the 2013 Presidential elections, the joy will be shared together with the Acholis in Uganda.

Juliet Angwech, a student on vacation shared her views saying that may be if Odinga wins the elections then he will also help an Acholi leader to win in the 2016 presidential Elections.

Raila Odinga belongs to the Jaluo ethnic group which is believed to have migrated from Lamogi tribe found in Guru-guru, in Amuru district.

The Lamogi tribe is one of the Luo tribe which migrated from bar-el-gazel in Southern Sudan in the 16the Centaury.

Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga are the 2 Kenyan’s Presidential Candidates   who are said to be having more supports in the 2013 Kenyan presidential Elections.

Uhuru is a son of founding President Jomo Kenyatta, while Raila’s father, Jaramogi Oginga, Odinga was the country’s first vice president.
