78 people have signed a petition to secede from the king of Rwenzururu saying they do not fall under his leadership.

Those seceding belong to several tribes like Kingwe and Nyabwindi, among others.

They claim they do not fall under his leadership because they have their own culture and language. They speak Lunyakitara, not Rukonjo. However, the Lunyakitara language is not an official language in the country.

The petition was written to the king himself, Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere.
