20 Ugandans are reportedly stuck in Harare remand prison in Zimbabwe.
It has been confirmed that thirteen males and seven females have been arrested and remanded to the prison and they have no idea how long they will remain in detention.
Kakuuto county MP Mathias Kasamba says that he has already written to the Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kaihura to get in touch with the police Interpol to rescue and bring back them back to Uganda.
MP Kasamba says that the 20 were caught and arrested by Zimbabwe police on their way to South Africa since Zimbabwe is on a migratory route for economic refugees.
The Zimbabwe prison service boss Paradzai Zimondi on the fate of the arrested Ugandans says that Zimbabwe prison’s hands are tied because foreign inmates are a responsibility of the immigration department .
The 20 Ugandans arrested are part of the 274 foreign inmates who are all stranded in Zimbabwe prisons.
Mr Frank Mbazira a resident of Kakuuto in Rakai district is one of the prisoners in Zimbabwe who was corned by Mafias to take him to South Africa and he was dropped in Harare were police arrested him.
