At Least 12 prisoners have escaped from Kalisizo government prison in Rakai .The prisoners escaped from the government facility in broad day light on Tuesday.

The prisoners escaped when the wardens had gone on a drinking spree in the nearby village.

The prisoners reportedly jumped off the fence while others escaped from the gate.

The journalists who learnt of the escape and stormed the prison were terribly beaten by the prison wardens who became furious when police learnt of it. Their cameras were  also broken in the attack as well.

The attacked journalists were, John Bosco  Mulyowa and Pasco Lutabi, all reporters of major newspapers around Kampala.However, the wardens wittily told the police that it were the journalists who attacked them.

The journalists were later detained and were released on orders of the Police spokesperson, Judith Nabakooba.
