The Ugandan government has announced that it will this month open an embassy  in Somalia .

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Henry Okello Oryem told journalists on Wednesday that  the new envoy to Somalia , Prof. Sam Turyamuhika  will arrive  in Mogadishu any time from now.

“Turyamuhika will be deputized by Maj Gen Nathan Mugisha, formerly Ugandan-led AMISOM commander in Somalia.” He said

The two were were appointed to run the Ugandan Commission  in Somalia  a Cabinet reshuffle in August in 2012.

Uganda has been leading a peace recovery mission in Somalia since 2007 and currently most parts of the country are becoming secure .

With deployment from other countries ,the current deployment stands at around 17,600 troops, of which 6,700 are Ugandan, 4,700 are Kenyan while 4,400 are from Burundi. Others include Djibouti with 300 out of a promised 800.The force has been able to recover key towns

Earlier in the week the Somali government forces with the support of African Union troops recovered the 3 key towns .
