The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has directed the Parliamentary Committee on Local Governments to table a report on the newly created 25 Districts in a week.
This followed concerns raised by Kibaale MPs over the alleged diversion of road construction funds amounting to 2.2 billion shillings to cater for Kakumiro and Kagadi districts which were curved out of Kibala district and are yet to be approved .
However two districts have created controversy between legislators in Kabale district and the junior minister of finance, Matia Kasaija whom the MPs accuse of using his position to influence the funds meant for road maintenance by channeling them for running the new districts.
The speaker now wants the MPs at the Local government committee to table a report on all the new districts in one week.If the new 25 districts are approved ,Uganda will be having 136 districts all together.
