Several schools have been closed and many more are anticipated to be closed because of the poor state they are in.
In Mityana, Naama Model Junior School was closed when inspectors reached the school to find that it had no credible buildings or text books. Those found at the school were from other schools and they had to first investigate to prove if indeed the books belong to the school or not. The school had already opened for the new academic term with students ranging from the nursery level to primary already reported.
In addition, the school did not also have toilets for the students. Students were sent home as they tried to sort out the mess while teachers fled the scene for fear of being apprehended.
In Mubende district, 14 schools were closed due to the poor conditions too as inspectors continue to schools in Kawembe and Makindye divisions in Kampala district.
The new academic term has just opened with a few days into the term. Students are expected to get their holidays at the end of April.
