Salaamu Musumba the Vice President for Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has been arrested in Butaleja district .
Musumba and other five FDC district officials including Hamba John Patrick Kayondo Mutwalib, Mumbiyo Alli, Ramazan Wegulo were arrested at Busolwe Town Council on Sunday at 8pm and taken to Tororo Central Police Station to record their statements.
Musumba was accused of distributing household items to voters .
However the FDC spokesperson Wafula Oguttu has dismissed the allegations that Musumba was bribing voters arguing that she was going to visit her grandmother.
“That is fake because she was going to visit her grandmother in Himutu Sub-county and was carrying sugar and meat for her. Police is making unnecessary arrests because they fear that the NRM will lose the election,” Mr Oguttu said.
Meanwhile voting is on going and it will end by 5pm.
