The results for the 2012 Uganda Certificate of Examinations (UCE) are being read at the moment at the Statistics House by the Uganda National Examinations Board Secretary, Mathew Bukenya in the presence of the UNEB chairman, Fagil Mandy, the Minister of Education, Jessica Alupo, the press, among others.

Last year, 262, 987 students sat for the examinations with 47% of them being girls and 52% boys. The overall performance of the students this year has reduced drastically. Students who passed in Division one has reduced from 8.5% in 2011 to 7.2% last year, 2012. The performance in Division two has also reduced from 26% to 16% in 2012.

Girls performed better than the boys in the English language and Literature while the boys performed better in the rest. The results of 1127 students have been withheld awaiting investigations in relation with examination malpractice with Biology being the subject most cheated in.
