President  has named a team  to resettle peasants evicted from their land. During a press briefing at his country home in Rwakitura ,Museveni said that the team will go to  different areas returning people who were illegally evicted back  to their land ‘bibanja’.

The team is headed by minister Idah Nantaba and other officials including ;Wakiso district MP Rosemary Ssenninde, Deborah Asasira, Mulinde Mukasa Kintu, a representative from the Ministry of Justice, the Police and the army.

Museveni said that the team will take all the measures to see that the resettlement are are peaceful as possible.Priority   in resettlement will first  go to  Buganda region, Sebei and the northern region and later other parts of the country.

Meanwhile the State Minister for Lands Nantaba who is heading the team hailed the President for  setting up the team to help in resettling the poor people.She noted that the President’s move  is  a milestone that will boost  her efforts to stop evictions in the country.

She added that police  should stop siding with land grabbers during evictions .
